Lead People Operations Manager - The Open Golf
The Lead People Operations Manager will take ownership of our People Operations function for The Open Championship. This position is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for the planning, financial control, and onsite deployment of the large hospitality and catering workforce at the event.
You will role ensure we have the right team in place to deliver operational excellence - a best in class guest and worker experience, aligned with Absolute Taste and The R&A values.
Location:Bicester 5 days per week - requirement to travel and work on location for events (flexibility required)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an end to end event resource plan aligned with the client’s expectations and operational demands, establishing robust strategies for recruitment, onboarding, training, rostering, travel, accommodation and staff deployment.
- Produce accurate financial forecasts for variable labour, training, expenses, travel hire and accommodation
- Work closely with General Manager and The Open Project Team to create staff rosters based on event demands, client requirements, and employee availability.
- Supporting each operational lead in building, publishing and assigning shifts to the causal, freelance and agency workforce through our workforce management system.
- Plan and direct all onsite People Operations activities including accreditation, staff check-in, employee welfare, uniform distribution, and general operational support.
- Plan, facilitate and implement the employee Reward and Recognition Program for the event.
- Deliver live reporting on staffing levels and real time labour spend against event forecasts to keep project leads informed throughout.
- Oversee post event financial administration, including casual staff payroll processing and the verification and processing of agency and freelancer invoices in line with company policy.
- Conduct post event workforce analytics, evaluating timesheet data against sales and other KPIs to measure strategy success and identify opportunities for improvement
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
About You
- You will have a minimum of 2-3 years of progressive People Operations management experience within complex, fast-paced, high volume environments (e.g major greenfield events, stadiums or large venues and arenas).
- Comprehensive knowledge of recruitment activities and best practices, as well as employment law compliance throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
- Commercially astute, with strong financial capability in labour forecasting.
- Knowledge of scheduling software and confident utilising intuitive cloud based WFM, LMS, ATS and payroll software (E.g. Humanforce, MAPAL 1)
