About The Role: We are looking for an experienced Assistant Procurement Manager to join our Procurement team and play a key role in driving the sourcing and procurement strategy for TMP. This is an exciting opportunity to lead sourcing activities across multiple spend categories including food, beverage, consumables, service contracts, and capital. In this role, you’ll focus on supplier management, cost optimization, and ensuring product availability while helping to deliver continuous improvements in quality and service.
Your Key Responsibilities as an Assistant Procurement Manager will include:
- Team Management & Operations: Lead and manage the procurement team, ensuring high performance and productivity. Oversee day-to-day procurement activities with a focus on quick response times to minimize any impact on operations. Source products across a wide range of spend categories, including food, beverage, consumables, service contracts, and capital. Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing suppliers. Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and conditions. Monitor supplier performance and ensure adherence to KPIs, service level agreements, and contractual obligations. Conduct supplier audits and reviews to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Cost Control & Reporting: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities to improve profitability. Analyse procurement data and report on savings, trends, and performance against targets. Ensure proper contract database management, including the creation and maintenance of a preferred supplier list (PSL).
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure processes are understood and followed. Collaborate with Accounts Payable to streamline the procure-to-pay process and drive efficiencies. Support sales and business development with timely sourcing and competitive cost pricing for new products. Engage with key stakeholders to implement training programs and best practices across procurement. Drive continuous improvements in all aspects of the procurement process with a key focus on cost, quality, and first-time availability. Work with the Quality and Technical functions to ensure products meet customer, operational, and legal requirements. Develop and implement product category plans, tracking performance against KPIs and targets.
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally in a fast-paced operational environment (e.g., food production, distribution, FMCG).
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with experience handling supplier relationships and agreements.
- Analytical mindset with experience in data analysis and cost control.
- Ability to lead and manage a team, driving performance and continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of procurement systems, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals.
- Excellent communication skills, able to manage relationships at all levels.
