The Megaro Collection is a privately‑owned modern group, established over thirty years ago in King's Cross/St Pancras. The Group’s portfolio includes 3 Hotels, meeting and events spaces, 1 rooftop terrace, 2 Restaurants, and 1 cocktail Bar. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Sales & Events Manager for The Derby, a well-known meeting and events space in the industry.
The Head of Events will have a background in either a 4- or 5‑star Hotel, Conference/Events operation, or within a corporate establishment. They will be a natural leader with the ability to drive the sales department and achieve set targets throughout the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong & bubbly personality, enjoy dealing with a mix of clientele, and have a hands‑on approach to the business.
Responsibilities include:
- Working alongside the Events Manager in managing and converting events enquiries
- Conducting reactive sales: communicating with clients over the phone, via emails, arranging viewings, and negotiating pricing
- Conducting client site visits alongside the team
- Conducting proactive sales calls, meetings, and participating at networking events
- Managing the workload with the Events Manager
- Maintaining and resourcing new corporate business, establishing strong relationships with all clients
- Preparing weekly sales reports, activating strategies on compset, and analysing departmental performance
- Being a team player with a proactive and mentoring attitude
- Using the company PMS, Guestline, to track, allocate, and process payments
- Ensuring all function rooms are clean and set up correctly according to event requirements
- Briefing & training the events team regarding menus, functions, and safety procedures
- Checking all storage areas are clean and tidy
- Maintaining excellent communication within all departments
- Running the department proactively and independently
To be considered, candidates must:
- Be able to work under pressure with others calmly, courteously, and methodically
- Have an excellent command of English, both verbally and written
- Be experienced with corporate clientele
- Be super well organised and very efficient
- Be experienced in a similar position
- Be hands-on
This role requires superb organisation and communication skills and in‑depth events know‑how. It is essential to ensure all departments are adequately briefed and trained. Leading by example, our ideal candidate will have a hands‑on approach to the business and great attention to detail.
