Medici Medical Practice is looking to recruit a friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable individual to join our reception team. As a GP Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for the practice, welcoming patients, managing appointments, carrying out administrative duties, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a busy surgery. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, Monday to Friday between 08:00am and 6:30pm, ensuring adequate reception cover at all times. The successful candidate will be proactive, caring, and committed to delivering excellent patient service. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team.
Main duties of the job:
- Booking and managing appointments
- Responding to emails and general enquiries
- Processing prescriptions
- Handling incoming and outgoing post
- Providing general administrative support to the clinical team
- Supporting administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry

We are a teaching practice and are proud to support the training and development of future healthcare professionals. Our practice is supported by two partners and a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including salaried GPs, Physician Associates (PAs), Paramedics, Practice Nurses, Minor Illness Nurses, Pharmacists, and Healthcare Assistants (HCAs). We work collaboratively to provide accessible, efficient, and compassionate care to our patients.
Job responsibilities:
- Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with enquiries appropriately
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner, providing face-to-face reception support
- Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies
- Process prescription requests in line with practice procedures and protocols
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as required
- Manage consultation tools and scanning documentation as required
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
- Carry out data entry for new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as requested
- Input data as necessary onto patients' healthcare records
- Safely take samples from patients in accordance with the Sample Handling Protocol
- Provide holiday and sickness cover for colleagues as required
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and effective working area
