The Medical Skin Clinic is a private dermatology clinic located in Newmarket, Suffolk, renowned for its patient-first approach and diverse range of medical services. Their multidisciplinary team of experienced doctors and healthcare professionals are dedicated to providing accessible, personalized treatment in a welcoming environment. The Medical Skin Clinic ensures flexible scheduling, transparent pricing, and a seamless patient experience from initial consultation to follow-up care.

This is a contract, on-site role located in Newmarket for a Medical Secretary to manage our Private Health Insurance patients. The Private Health Insurance Administrator will be primarily responsible for co-ordinating care of patients referred by Private Health Insurers, but will also engage in general reception activities for the clinic. Day to day tasks include:

  • Coding and billing via Healthcode
  • Greeting patients
  • Managing appointment scheduling
  • Handling inbound and outbound phone calls
  • Maintaining medical office records
  • Ensuring the waiting area operates smoothly

The individual will also assist with communication between patients and healthcare providers, insurance companies, provide information about services, and ensure a positive patient experience. The contract is currently for a sub-contractor for 4 hours per week, based on-site in Newmarket but could translate into a full-time role for the right person.

Qualifications (Essential - please only register your interest if all apply):

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience dealing with Private Health Insurance Patients/Companies
  • Ideally a proficiency using Healthcode
  • Experience in appointment scheduling and managing calendars
  • Proficiency in phone etiquette and strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Understanding of receptionist duties and a patient-centered approach
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical office procedures
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
  • Understanding of Data Protection, GDPR and overarching CQC regulations
