The Medical Law Partnership is a newly formed and ambitious law firm intent on delivering outstanding legal services to our clients. We are seeking a motivated and client-focused nurse Paralegal to join our Clinical Negligence Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow with MLP, offering scope for personal development and the chance to participate in our expansion.
About the role
As a Paralegal in the Clinical Negligence team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality legal services to our clients. You will work closely with our New Business Team and Legal Team to assess and progress new cases.
Key responsibilities:
- Support clients during the early stages of their enquiry.
- Take instructions from the client and keep them updated.
- Assist with the assessment of new client enquiries.
- Obtain, collate and review medical records.
- Assist with the investigation and progression of clinical negligence cases.
- Draft letters, initial witness statements and legal documents.
- Record your time on file and document work undertaken.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Nursing or relevant clinical experience.
- A genuine interest in clinical negligence law – a law degree is not essential, but a good understanding of the pre-action process is desirable.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills – you will need to demonstrate empathy while communicating in a professional manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills – you will be working within a team and liaising with clients and third parties.
- Good organisational skills – you will need to use your initiative to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- An understanding of data protection and a responsible approach to working with sensitive information.
