Newsworks is seeking a proactive data and insight analyst to join our research and insight team. Reporting into Newsworks’ research and insight director, this role is focused on conducting accurate and robust data analysis, translating it into powerful stories to support the Newsworks team. This role’s responsibility is to help deliver evidence that demonstrates the value of news brands to advertisers and agencies, working closely with Newsworks’ stakeholders to champion journalism and drive investment into the industry.

Who we are looking for

  • Someone who is enthusiastic and proactive with 2-3 years’ experience in a research or planning role, ideally (but not essential) from a media owner, media agency or research agency.
  • A multitasker who gets stuff done – running multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
  • A can-do attitude, wanting to make a positive difference whilst also having fun!
  • A self-starter, with the desire to work as part of a small team.
  • Someone who is inquisitive about the media industry, journalism, news, and advertising.
  • A passion and a belief in the importance of news brands and journalism.
  • Both an analytical and storyteller mindset with the ability to use data to tell stories.
  • Someone who can frame insights with a commercial mindset to directly address business challenges.

Skills you should have

  • High levels of numeracy with experience of working with data and data systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Confident communicator and storyteller, both written and verbal.
  • Great interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent analytical, desk research and project management skills, proficient with MS office tools (Excel / PowerPoint etc.).

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse and report on all industry data releases using media tools and systems such as PAMCo, IPSOS-iris, TGI and RAM. Training provided for all systems as required.
  • Use industry data to produce compelling insight and stories that support the industry narrative of Journalism Matters and promoting why advertisers should invest in news brands.
  • Conduct detailed client category and sector analysis.
  • Provide data analysis and reporting to the Newsworks team and stakeholders.
  • Write compelling data-led stories for the Newsworks website, trade press and industry newsletter.
  • Help deliver the Newsworks thought leadership insight programme that champions the agreed strategy and narrative of journalism matters.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with publisher insight teams, working together to tackle industry issues.
  • Build excellent industry relationships with research agency suppliers.
  • Attend and report on industry events.
