We are looking for a Senior SEO Account Manager to lead the day-to-day management, strategic direction, and delivery of SEO activity across a portfolio of clients. This role is suited to someone who is confident managing complex accounts across different industries, can translate SEO performance into clear business recommendations, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced agency environment.
The successful candidate will act as a senior point of contact for clients, managing expectations, timelines, deliverables, and performance conversations while working closely with Account Directors, SEO specialists, content teams, technical teams, and other digital channels.
This role requires someone who can balance strategic thinking with strong delivery management, confidently oversee the work of account executives, and ensure high-quality execution across technical SEO, content, on-page optimization, reporting, and wider organic growth initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main day-to-day client contact, managing communication, expectations, priorities, and performance updates across a portfolio of SEO accounts.
- Lead the development and delivery of SEO strategies aligned with clients’ business objectives, KPIs, and wider digital activity.
- Manage complex accounts across different industries, markets, and website types, adapting strategies to each client’s commercial goals and search landscape.
- Own SEO roadmaps, timelines, deliverables, and reporting, ensuring work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Work closely with Account Directors, the Head of SEO, SEO specialists, content, technical, analytics, and wider SEM teams to deliver integrated strategies.
- Oversee technical SEO audits, on-page optimization, content planning, keyword strategy, internal linking, competitor analysis, and authority-building recommendations.
- Analyze performance using tools such as GA4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Looker Studio, turning data into clear recommendations.
- Prepare and lead client calls, status updates, reports, and performance reviews, translating complex SEO findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Manage, delegate, and review the work of account executives and junior team members, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery.
- Identify risks, opportunities, blockers, and performance changes early, escalating where needed and recommending practical next steps.
- Stay up to date with SEO trends, algorithm updates, AI search developments, and industry changes, sharing relevant insights with clients and the wider team.
Role Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience in SEO account management within a digital, SEO, or performance marketing agency.
- Experience managing complex SEO accounts, ideally across multiple industries, markets, or website types.
- Strong understanding of agency life, including managing multiple clients, competing deadlines, changing priorities, and high standards of client service.
- Proven ability to manage, delegate to, and review the work of junior team members or account executives.
- Strong technical SEO knowledge, including site architecture, crawlability, indexation, schema markup, page speed, redirects, canonicalization, international SEO, and technical auditing.
- Solid understanding of on-page SEO, content strategy, keyword research, internal linking, search intent, and competitor analysis.
- Confident using SEO and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Looker Studio, and similar platforms.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex SEO information clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, including ownership of timelines, deliverables, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with internal teams in a remote-first environment.
- Comfortable attending face-to-face client or team meetings when required.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to connect SEO activity to broader business goals, lead generation, revenue, visibility, or conversion outcomes.

- Experience working on multilingual, multi-regional, or international SEO accounts.
- Experience in highly regulated or complex industries such as finance, healthcare, gambling, or B2B.
- Experience working with large websites, enterprise platforms, e-commerce sites, or technically complex CMS environments.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana, Monday.com, Trello, ClickUp, or similar.
- Experience working alongside paid search, paid social, programmatic, CRO, analytics, or content teams.
- Experience contributing to pitches, audits, proposals, QBRs, or strategic growth plans.
- Knowledge of AI search, generative search experiences, entity optimization, or evolving organic search trends.
