A UK group of just under 1,000 people, built through organic growth and 25+ acquisitions, is appointing its next Group IT Director. Reporting to the CFO with regular Board exposure, this is the role that turns a federated collection of successful, independently run businesses into a group that shares data, systems and buying power - without smothering what makes each one work.
The immediate priority is a group-wide Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementation. The programme is planned and underway; it now needs an owner. You'll drive it through a mix of in-house and external contractor resource, hold governance and pace, and keep the Executive confident in progress, risk and benefits realised.
Alongside it sits the wider group agenda: shaping an IT operating model appropriate to the Group's maturity, managing an outsourced service provider commercially, strengthening cyber resilience, building data and analytics capability, and identifying where technology genuinely removes cost and friction.
None of this lands by mandate. Business enablement is what works here, not centralised IT - which means influencing MDs on their terms and sequencing change around commercial reality rather than programme plans. Visibility matters: these are businesses where people are won over in person, not over Teams, so expect to spend real time out across the sites.
We're looking for a senior technology leader who has delivered a multi-site ERP programme end to end and is comfortable in a lean team, close to the detail as well as the strategy. Ideally strong experience in the Construction, building materials or built environment sector.
