About the Company
Our client is an international private investment group/family office, with investments and assets spread across a number of sectors and markets. The portfolio has an international focus with an AUM of over $1bln and investments covering areas such as – Energy, Consumer Goods and Manufacturing. The company is a legacy brand well regarded in the market, with a strategy and focus on patient capital and providing long term value and importantly is able to self fund majority of the deals itself.
About the Role
With the possibility of further deals as well as a portfolio performing well, the fund is now looking to hire a Portfolio Manager. This is an exciting new role for the fund and will work alongside the investment team and management teams of the portfolio companies. The role will be broad in scope but key aspects will include monitoring the portfolio and its investments as well as alerting the team to any significant changes or problems, ideally before they arrive. The role will also involve value creation and strategic thinking about the various businesses and what changes could or should be made to them.
You will likely get involved in potential new deals and bolt on acquisitions as well as represent the investors in a Non Executive board capacity.
The portfolio is global in nature so will suit someone with an interest in international work and travel.
Responsibilities
- Produce reports to highlight management information
- If needed support the companies in a Board capacity
- Develop portfolio manager Toolkit and template
- Marketing Drive Campaign coordination
Required Skills
- Someone with strong interpersonal skills and EQ to ensure management teams respect and listen to the individual.
- Strong analytical skills to assess financial health.
- High level of levels of numerical and intellectual capability, combined with a self-confidence and belief in their ability to positively impact businesses and provide value to the investors.
- Intellectually curious with a strong operational and strategic mindset and understanding.
- Able to be brief, succinct and clear with all communications; information should be presented clearly and easily digestible.
- Highly numerate and comfortable with data will be critical to the role as will the ability to translate data and information into easily digestible reports.
- Strong strategic thinking and mindsight is also needed and the role will suit someone who likes the strategic aspect and value creation.
Qualifications
- At least 8 years within a similar field such as – Portfolio Manager, Value Creation, Or Corporate Finance or Strategy or within a corporate
- Graduate with a or MSc in a relevant field
- International exposure would be beneficial including time spent working in Africa
