Job Summary
We are looking for a Community Based Services Supervisor who is passionate about supporting people to live active, fulfilling and independent lives. You will help deliver person centred support that promotes choice, inclusion and meaningful community activities, ensuring the people we support have a strong voice in decisions about their lives. You will lead and support the staff team, promote professional standards and contribute to staff development, supervision and appraisal. You will also provide direct support, including personal care where required. You will need to be adaptable, creative and resilient, working flexibly with your manager as individual needs and the service develop, including contributing to new projects and undertaking reasonable duties appropriate to your role. Key Responsibilites •
• Lead, guide and support the staff team, promoting professional standards and the values of The Mayfield Trust. •
• Coordinate rotas and delegate duties to ensure commissioned support is delivered effectively. •
• Coach and mentor staff, supporting their training, supervision, appraisal and development. •
• Provide direct support, including personal care where required, and work alongside the team to meet the needs of the people we support. •
• Promote person centred support, meaningful community activities and outcomes that reflect individual needs, wishes and aspirations. •
• Maintain accurate, up to date care plans, risk assessments, Mental Capacity Assessments and associated records, ensuring information is handled securely. •
• Promote compliance with Trust policies, safeguarding, health and safety requirements, CQC standards and relevant legislation, ensuring concerns and incidents are reported and escalated appropriately. •
• Communicate effectively with the people we support, families, staff and professionals, contributing to meetings and service improvements. •
• Provide direct support, including personal care, when required, and work flexibly alongside the team. •
• Maintain your own training, development and professional conduct, recognise the limits of your role and seek advice when needed. •
• Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role. Skills & Experience Must have: ·
Recognising behaviour as a form of communication and to have psychological resilience when responding to difficult and emotionally charged episodes. ·
Good communications skills both written and verbal ·
Good emotional and mental strength ·
Good level of English and Maths ·
Strong IT skills including WORD and EXCEL ·
Ability to build good rapport with service users, outside agencies and staff. ·
Patience and attention to detail ·
Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative ·
Highly organised & motivated ·
Minimum level equivalent to Grade C English & Maths ·
Level 2 Health & Social Care / Care Certificate or comparable. Desirable: Experience supporting people with learning disabilities. Awareness of safeguarding, mental capacity, and health & safety principles. Experience working in inclusive, values-led environments. Experience supporting people with a learning disability and individuals who may communicate through behaviour or experience emotional distress ·
Level 3 Health & Social Care / Care Certificate Hours 37.5 hours per week working days and evenings over 7 days to support an Outreach & Community Based Day Opportunities service.
