The Matthew Project

The post holder will provide support to some of the hardest to reach young people, aged 16 to 25 years, with multiple barriers to education, training and employment. The role will predominantly work with young people in West Norfolk to help them move towards their goals including employment, education or training, although there may be some work in Breckland and throughout the whole of Norfolk. Support will be through coaching and other interventions. This post will be based in Kings Lynn, working on a one-to-one basis with participants, although there will also be an element of group work included. Key Responsibilities Client Support

Key Responsibilities Client Support

  • Engage with clients through outreach and establish professional and appropriate relationships with them, both as individuals and in groups. This will be in a way that develops their trust, confidence and acceptance.
  • Engage with clients in a one-to-one setting in community, educational and public spaces, providing one to one support to help with a range of issues.
  • Providing coaching support to help move young person closer to their goals.
  • Provide support, advice, information and help young people to engage with other services where necessary.
  • Work closely with project team members, and other support providers to help meet the needs of clients.

Service Delivery

  • To provide access points into the service for young people, parents, carers and other professionals requiring information, advice and support about overcoming barriers to employment, education and training.
  • Provide planned care and risk assessment/screening for service users.
  • To work closely with our existing young people's services e.g. substance misuse services and other providers to facilitate referrals to treatment services as needed.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of service user needs and identify those who are working towards positive closure.
  • To identify and engage with young people individually and in groups, including those who are vulnerable and excluded from mainstream services, and to ensure that they have access to appropriate wellbeing advice and support.
  • Initiate and attend service user reviews, case conferences and other meetings as required.
  • To undertake training and facilitate the provision of service user groups.
  • To support staff in delivering team's services, providing advice, and support where required
  • To provide individual psychosocial interventions for young people using evidence based techniques, for example, the use of coaching, brief interventions and motivational interviewing on a one-to-one basis and in group environments.
  • Liaise closely with relevant agencies to enable effective pathways of care.
  • To ensure service users are enabled and empowered to make informed decisions about this service and the delivery of that service.
  • To collect relevant data and complete all necessary paperwork associated with the service including referral and assessment forms, data, reports and any other administrational paperwork (e.g. time sheets, expenses etc.).

General Requirements

  • To work within and model the ethos, values and behaviours of the Matthew Project.
  • To take part in regular supervision, appraisal and team meetings as well as other multi-agency meetings and forums as specified.
  • Treat all volunteers, service users and carers with respect and promoting equal opportunities.
  • To effectively organise your working day, making the best use of time, geographical distances and resources.
  • Identify personal learning and training needs through supervision and annual personal development review/plans.
  • Actively participate in training and education.
  • Ensure that personal appearance, practice and manner conform to the standards and expectations of the Matthew Project.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with volunteers, service users, carers and colleagues.
  • Comply with all Matthew Project policies, guidelines and protocols.
  • To undertake other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the post as required.

Risk Management/Health and Safety

In accordance with the relevant policies and procedures of the Matthew Project and relevant legislation the post holder:

  • has a responsibility to themselves and others in relation to managing risk, health and safety;
  • has responsibility for the creation, maintenance and storage of records in accordance with the Matthew Project policy, including email documents and with regard to Data Protection legislation, the Freedom of Information Act and other relevant statutory requirements. Training will be provided in appropriate information management for the post.

Confidentiality

The post holder is required to maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with professional and Matthew Project policy. The post holder may access information only on a need-to-know basis in the direct discharge of their duties and divulge information only in the proper course of their duties. This job description is an outline and account of the main duties required to carry out the post. It will be reviewed periodically to reflect changes and developments in service requirements. The post holder is advised that they have a responsibility to ensure they are familiar with their terms and conditions of service detailed in the contract of employment.

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week, by arrangement to cover staffing of services, this may include some evenings and weekends.

Pay Band: Grade 1/2 Client Facing Pay Scale: Β£25,437-Β£27,927 FTE depending on experience

Contract: Fixed term until 31/08/27 initially with potential to extend
