As treasurer, you'll have an essential role in contributing to the continued operation of The Matthew of Bristol. This year, we're focusing on building back our cash reserves, which have been depleting since the COVID‑19 pandemic. These reserves, once used to buffer against maintenance and revenue cycles, have now reached critically low levels.
We also have a significant milestone on the horizon – 2027 marks the 30th anniversary of The modern Matthew setting sail for North America, tracing the route of John Cabot’s 1497 voyage of exploration, and we’re planning projects to strengthen our impact on heritage, education and community engagement. We are therefore seeking a trustee treasurer who can contribute to the strategic development of the charity and who shares our passion for maritime heritage and public education.
