Position Summary: This role involves providing operational support to the Transport Operations Manager and full cover in times of absence, leave and training. Manage and guide the Transport Shift Managers and Transport Co-ordinators to ensure a consistent approach and an effective application of Company and legal procedures and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all Transport colleagues are trained and conversant in all aspects of Health & Safety.
- Support the Transport Operations Manager in cascading the safety message and striving to ensure a “Zero is Possible” approach and culture towards accidents.
- Ensure we continue to promote our Culture of Care via any means necessary and have the confidence to live and demonstrate MB’s company values.
- Ensure that the operation is run in line with Martin Brower Policies and Procedures.
- Deputise for the Transport Operations Manager when requested and assist in building a robust DC succession plan.
- Build relationships with Customer Services (CS) Team colleagues to ensure excellent service to our customers.
- Plan, manage and control all resources to achieve budget productivity levels and financial spend.
- The preparation and maintenance of department weekly financial figures, including all financial and service KPIs.
Technical Competencies:
- Experience of scheduling systems and their outputs, such as Paragon.
- Understanding of WMOS systems, such as AS400/ JDE.
- Aware of all current and pending Transport industry legislation and developments.
- CPC is essential including 2 yearly refreshers.
- Good level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office.

Qualifications:
Technical Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience in Transport Operations, with 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- P.C Holder.
- Previous experience in management of Drivers.
- Good geographical knowledge.
- Experience in scheduling.
- IT Literate including AS400 and Paragon knowledge.
- Aware of all current and pending industry legislation.
