We’re in our best year yet. Our community of 50,000+ marketers is thriving, our events are buzzing, our channels are stronger than ever, and our sponsor partnerships are in demand. As our first commercial hire, you’ll have the autonomy and latitude to build the revenue function – taking what we’ve done to date and creating something better. You won’t be starting from zero. We have long-standing sponsor relationships, repeat partners, strong inbound interest, and proven products that already generate revenue. What we haven’t yet done is systemise, prioritise, or scale this commercially – and that’s the opportunity.
You’ll operate as a senior leader in the business, with a meaningful voice in commercial and product direction. You’ll own the sponsorship and partnership sales across our full range of products, from in-person events and digital series to newsletters and podcasts. And you’ll help us continue to show that kindness and commercial success can co-exist – and thrive.
What You’ll Be Doing
- In the first 3 months: Build the foundations: CRM, sales systems, and reporting. Connect with current and past partners. Start mapping a revenue pipeline. Begin outreach for smaller, quick-win deals. Start to form and make recommendations on where your strategic energy will be placed going forward.
- After that: Progressively own the full commercial process: segmenting, prospecting, pitching, closing, customer-success and account management. Prove where our energy yields the best commercial return for TMM and for sponsors, and yields value for our community, and act upon this. Suggest smart ways to track commercial success for TMM (MRR, retention, average deal size, etc). Manage reporting to sponsors and partners to evince the value TMM drives for them. In time, build the commercial team to match the ambitions of the community. Work closely with Joe (CEO/co-founder) and James (co-founder) to shape the commercial strategy & with our product owners so that commercial partnerships deliver value to our community as integrated parts of our products.
Our Product Lines
- IRL events – local meetups and our flagship conference
- Digital sponsorships – webinars, digital series, and virtual placements
- TMM School – partner-integrated workshops or courses
- Jobs board – trusted by marketers and hiring managers alike
- Dinners/experiences – curated in-person moments for senior marketers
- Newsletter sponsorships – reaching 33,000+ marketers weekly
- Podcast series – branded episodes or series partnerships
- New formats – that you’ll have a hand in shaping
While we would be keen for you to initially focus on maximising our existing channels, you’ll also have latitude to shape new commercial models as you listen to partners. We would love you to lead this.
What Success Looks Like
By month 6, we have a healthy, trackable pipeline of leads and deals. You’ve closed several deals and started to prove what channels convert best. The revenue you’ve brought in is visible and reliable. We’ve started to systemise what’s working, setting the business up for scale. You’ve shown how we can drive material revenue growth without compromising community experience or sponsor returns.
We’ll judge success by both the numbers and how you show up – a kind, trustworthy person who wants to do meaningful work with good people.
Commission Structure (Uncapped)
7.5% commission on revenue that you bring in, 5% on renewals and upsells. There’s no cap – the more value you drive, the more you earn. Payment terms: Commission is paid once funds have been received from the client. Deal approval: To protect partner experience and community trust, any deal that significantly deviates from our standard rate card or introduces a new format will be reviewed together with Joe before confirmation. Once agreed, it’s fully commissionable.
