The University is now seeking an exceptional academic leader to become its next Faculty Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor for Arts and Humanities. This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the UK's largest and most distinctive arts and humanities faculties and to build something visible, lasting and impactful at scale, as a key part of the University's Executive Team.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is a bold and diverse intellectual community spanning art and design, digital arts, architecture, fashion, English, history, politics, philosophy, sociology and criminology. With over 700 academic colleagues and around 11,500 students, it combines scale with quality. Multiple disciplines deliver consistently strong National Student Survey outcomes, Art and Design and English are ranked in the top ten nationally for research power in REF 2021, and there is an overarching culture of collaboration that translates ideas into real‑world impact.

As Faculty Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor, you will have the scope to shape a compelling, long‑term vision, identifying opportunities for growth, investment and innovation. You will bring pace and clarity to a complex and diverse portfolio, aligning schools around a unifying strategy to accelerate performance and ensure the Faculty is well positioned for the next decade. By leveraging both scale and place you will maximise its role within Greater Manchester and the wider North West, and extend its influence both nationally and internationally.

To achieve this we are seeking an outstanding academic leader, an individual with superb communication skills, a research profile of international renown, a deep understanding of contemporary higher education, and a demonstrable track record of leading complex academic communities in the Arts and Humanities domains.
