The Centre for Learning Enhancement and Educational Development (LEED) leads Manchester Metropolitan University’s digitally enhanced education, academic development and education innovation. The Digital Education team (DigiEd) within LEED supports staff throughout the university in delivering flexible, active and digitally-enhanced education for all students. Due to upcoming retirements, we are recruiting for two key leadership roles in the DigiEd team: Associate Head of Digital Education and Assistant Director of LEED (Digital Education). Candidates may apply for one or both positions.
About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Digital Education professional and educational leader for the position of Associate Head of the Digital Education Team. The role involves leadership and support on all aspects of digitally enhanced learning, teaching and assessment, and delivers the Digital Education team’s activities across the university’s four faculties and education‑facing professional services teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the Digitally Enhanced Learning, Teaching and Assessment (DELTA) Strategy and develop high‑quality guidance, resources and training for staff.
- Provide line management for the team of nine Faculty‑linked Digital Education Specialists.
- Build partnerships with external agencies and professional bodies to enhance the university’s reputation and foster collaborative work.
- Ensure the Digital Education team’s objectives align with LEED’s strategic aims and support the university’s Education and People Strategies.
- Co‑organise the Annual LEED Learning and Teaching Conference for 250 educators.
- Deliver effective core provision across DigiEd activities, outcomes and impact reporting.
Qualifications
- Significant track record of leadership and delivery of digitally enhanced education, with expertise in Virtual Learning Environments and other teaching and learning applications such as Adobe Creative Campus, generative‑AI and accessibility platforms.
- Ability to develop best‑practice guidelines and mentor others regarding effective use of digital education technologies, embedding technology through curriculum design, development and deployment, and effective use of institutional VLEs and other digital tools.
- Strong communicator with proven influence and persuasion skills across academic and professional services stakeholders.
- Experience presenting reports and research at national and international conferences.
- Proven initiative, creativity and judgement in leading innovative approaches to support and empower educators.
