We are looking to recruit hourly paid independent assessors to conduct end-point assessments (EPAs) of our apprentices on our Ofsted Outstanding, award-winning Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist apprenticeship programme. Independent assessors need to be independent of the training delivery and will not have been involved with the apprentice's employment, nor have taught on the Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist apprenticeship programmes at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Specialisms we currently have apprentices in:

  • IT Strategy
  • Software Engineering
  • Data Analytics
  • Cyber Security Technology

Essential to the role:

  • Competence and academic qualifications to at least MSc level in the fields covered by the relevant specialism in the apprenticeship standard (e.g. software engineering etc.), together with a minimum of 3 years' experience in that field obtained no later than two years ago.
  • Competence and experience (minimum three years, obtained no later than two years ago) relating to operating a variety of assessment tasks appropriate to the subject and operating assessment procedures.
  • Familiarity with the apprenticeship standard and specialism defined in that standard related to the apprenticeship undertaken.

As an independent assessor, you will be required to attend an induction to ensure you fully understand the EPA plan and have a detailed understanding of the external quality assurance requirements of the Office for Students. In addition to the above, we require independent assessors to attend regular standardisation events (minimum one per year) and to ensure they are fully conversant with good assessment practice, operating assessment tools, and grading. All Independent assessors will need to meet Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education requirements.
