We have an exciting opportunity at our City Campus Manchester to join our Creative Industries Department as an Achievement Tutor (Music) on a permanent, part-time (21 hours per week) basis.

What the role entails

As an Achievement Tutor for Creative Industries you will sit under the Music department, manage allocated students or student groups, and deliver a highly effective tutorial and pastoral programme. You will ensure the overall academic, pastoral, social and behavioural progress of students is tracked and supported so that they achieve outstanding retention, achievement, progress and progression outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate of Education or PGCE
  • Current and valid industry specialism
  • Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation)
  • English and Maths minimum level 2 (Grace C or grade 4 and above)
  • Excellent data handling and analysis skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in cross‑college teams and establish positive relationships
  • Empathy with young people/adults
  • Flexible and creative approach to tasks
  • Positive, solution‑focused approach to challenge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with key student stakeholders (e.g., next of kin, social services, learning support)
  • Demonstrable track record of effective teaching and delivery in the subject specialism
  • Experience using IT systems to monitor and track progress
  • Demonstrable organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously
  • Background or interest in music an advantage, though not essential
