Head of Pre-Construction
Construction & Engineering | London & UK-wide | £150,000 – £175,000pa
Shape the strategic front end of complex construction and engineering projects.
This is a rare opportunity to take senior ownership of pre-construction strategy for a specialist contractor delivering some of the UK’s most technically demanding schemes. Acting as the bridge between opportunity and execution, you’ll lead the early-stage planning, technical assurance, and bid development that underpins safe, successful delivery.
A business built on delivery precision and technical depth.
Our client is known for its work across high-risk, high-profile infrastructure and specialist construction projects – with expertise spanning structural steel, reinforced concrete, demolition, and complex industrial services. Their approach is hands-on and collaborative, with a clear focus on technical excellence, safety and accountability.
As Head of Pre-Construction, you’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team covering estimating, design, planning and methodology. You’ll own the technical integrity of project submissions, advise on buildability and risk, and ensure programmes are both compelling and deliverable. From shaping tender strategies to de-risking early-stage delivery, this is a high-impact leadership role with real scope to influence growth and capability.
A role for a commercially minded technical leader with presence and credibility.
You’ll bring senior experience in pre-construction or technical leadership within a contractor or specialist engineering environment. Adept at influencing without direct line control, you’ll be able to bring together diverse functions and align commercial, delivery and client priorities. Strong communication skills and client-facing credibility are essential—as is a deep understanding of structural methodologies, programme sequencing, and risk management.
This is your chance to make a tangible impact at the front end of major schemes—helping shape the pipeline, the strategy, and the future of a growing technical contractor.
