MRG is seeking an Interim Minor Works / Project Manager for a large public sector organisation in Essex, to support the delivery of a programme of property-related projects across a diverse estate portfolio. This assignment will play a key role in managing minor building works, compliance-driven improvements, and small capital projects. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage minor works projects from initiation through to completion, including scoping, programming, budgeting, tendering, and oversight of contractors.
- Prepare specifications, tender documentation, risk assessments and method statements.
- Ensure all works meet statutory compliance, health & safety, and building regulation requirements.
- Liaise with operational teams and service managers to minimise service disruption.
- Maintain accurate project and asset records using CAFM or similar systems.
- Provide regular reporting on budgets, progress, risks, and performance.
- Travel across various estate locations within Essex as required.
Experience & Skills
- Strong track record delivering minor works or property improvement projects within public sector, estates, FM, or similar environments.
- Solid understanding of building regulations, fire safety, and health & safety compliance.
- Confident engaging contractors, consultants, and operational stakeholders.
- Ability to manage a varied workload across multiple sites.
- Relevant technical or project management qualifications are beneficial.
- Full drivers licence.
- Proven experience project managing minor works, ideally client-side within the public sector.
