Are you an experienced Finance Assistant with strong sales ledger and credit control expertise? We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional to join a well-established membership organisation based in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of a busy sales ledger function while gaining broader exposure across finance operations.

The Role

  • Managing the sales ledger from end to end
  • Raising invoices and credit notes accurately and on time
  • Allocating receipts and reconciling customer accounts
  • Proactively chasing overdue payments and resolving billing queries
  • Producing aged debtor reports and monitoring outstanding balances
  • Supporting month-end processes and financial reporting

You will also assist with:

  • Accounts payable processing
  • Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • General bookkeeping activities
  • Finance system improvements and data migration projects
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and controls

About You

To be successful, you'll ideally have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience within sales ledger, accounts receivable, credit control or finance assistant roles
  • Strong understanding of sales ledger processes and credit control
  • Good knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and reconciliations
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence handling financial data
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Professional communication skills with confidence handling customer account queries

Desirable

  • Experience using Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software
  • AAT qualified, studying towards AAT, or equivalent accounting qualification
  • Experience working within a membership body, not-for-profit organisation, trade association, or SME environment
