Receptionist | Front of House

£34,473 per annum + excellent benefits

Permanent | Full-time, Monday–Friday (35 hours)

Fully office based - Onsite, London

Our client is a well-respected educational charity and professional membership body with a London head office. They have won awards for their people-first culture several years running. They're looking for a warm, unflappable Receptionist to be the face and voice of the organisation and to make sure everyone who walks through the door or picks up the phone feels welcome.

This isn't a "sit behind a desk" job. You'll own front of house, from welcoming guests and running the switchboard to making sure meeting rooms are ready and the building is safe, secure and looking its best.

What you'll be doing

  • Greeting every visitor with a friendly, professional welcome and managing the visitor, courier, taxi and delivery logs
  • Running the switchboard: answering calls promptly, passing on messages and handling queries and complaints with care
  • Setting up meeting rooms, arranging catering and making sure every host has what they need, at the best value
  • Managing building access, including the entry system, visitor passes, keys and fobs, and collecting passes back from leavers and contractors
  • Acting as a Fire Marshal and First Aider, including looking after guests with accessibility or language needs during evacuations
  • Keeping the office, communal areas and facilities clean, stocked and compliant with health and safety rules, and booking routine contractor work
  • Keeping electronic records organised and supporting the Office Support and HR teams when they need cover

What you'll bring

  • Experience in reception, switchboard and/or facilities work
  • Experience managing suppliers
  • First Aid and Fire Marshal experience, plus a Food Hygiene certificate
  • Confidence with Office 365, including Outlook, Excel, Teams and SharePoint
  • A calm, considerate, organised and friendly approach, with the flexibility to handle whatever the day brings
  • Integrity and discretion with sensitive information
  • Comfort working on your own and as part of a close team

What's in it for you

  • 10% employer pension contribution (3% employee)
  • 25–30 days' holiday, increasing with service
  • Company-paid private medical insurance
  • Life assurance at 4x salary, plus income protection and personal accident cover
  • A health cash plan for dental, optical and physio costs, and an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Interest-free season ticket or bike loan after six months
  • A supportive, inclusive culture where people are valued, developed and listened to

Closing date: Wednesday 8 October 2026.

Interviews start shortly after, so don't wait.
