Reporting
Reports to Packaging Development Manager.
Main Accountabilities
- Support specific ice cream brands, collaborating with packaging managers to deliver the overall innovation programme while keeping a long‑term view of brand packaging needs.
- Work closely with packaging managers to deliver the sustainability agenda, meeting European and local regulations, including Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations.
- Deliver packaging targets such as cost‑saving ideas and waste reduction activities.
- Interface with brand development, supply chain, procurement, product development, processing, CTI, CMI, and packaging suppliers to drive consumer‑focused, innovative and optimised packaging solutions.
Main Responsibilities
- Translate consumer insights, technical requirements and business needs into packaging solutions.
- Lead and support packaging development from brief definition through to scale manufacture for innovation, renovation and operational projects.
- Deliver packaging that meets required quality and technical standards while delighting consumers and building brand love using best‑practice excellence.
- Liaise with packaging converters and material suppliers in the development of packaging components.
- Test and validate technical specifications of packaging components.
- Identify and implement potential cost‑saving activities across the packaging portfolio.
- Comply with the code of business principles, safety, health and environmental requirements, and quality policies, including risk management and environmental awareness.
Skills / Experience / Qualifications
- Technical education in engineering, science, design or packaging.
- Working knowledge of a range of packaging materials and technologies (rigid plastics, flexibles, paper & paperboard).
- Project management and organisational experience.
- Minimum 3 years in an FMCG company, preferably in a packaging function.
- Enthusiasm and passion for packaging, innovation and consumer experience.
- Quick learner, proactive and able to take initiative.
- Positive attitude, mindset and competencies required for teamwork.
