Manpower is currently looking for an interim Experience Design - Intern to work with our global FMCG client, renowned for brands such as Magnum, Carte d’Or, Cornetto, and Walls, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment. The position is based at our client's Research & Development facility, at Colworth Science Park, in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire (MK44), accessible by car. This is a full-time temporary role, for 6 months requiring 37.50 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £27,200 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience. The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.
JOB PURPOSE
As a Design Team member, you will support innovation project teams to deliver impactful, consumer-focused products. You’ll join a team that fosters a strong design culture and inspires creativity. You’ll help scope and support projects from early opportunity identification to product launch, ensuring design excellence and alignment with brand intent. Your role connects cross-functional teams and external partners, amplifying creative impact and contributing to brand and portfolio growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support another designer on high-growth innovation areas to help deliver holistic design solutions on ice cream product innovations, in new flavours, forms, and occasions.
- Be part of a cross-functional project team, working through the full design process—from early-stage innovation to manufacturing, using TMICC’s best practices and design thinking.
- Work with the Packaging team to deliver new pack concept design work that aligns with the business aims and growth.
- Support the creation and coordination of prototypes.
- Communicate creative opportunities and solutions clearly across functions.
- Support the wider R&D team with the creation of digital and physical assets for internal events, stakeholder showcases, and demonstrations.

EXPERIENCE
We understand that for student placements, industry experience may be limited. You should be working towards a degree in the design of physical products - Industrial Design, Product Design Engineering, or other related design field. (Please note that this is not a UI/UX role.)
Applied knowledge of design disciplines, design terminology, ways of working, and project management is required. Experience of 3D CAD software (We use Solidworks, but experience in other CAD software would be fine!), Keyshot, Adobe Suite, as well as the ability to put pens to paper. Can write and articulate in English to a good standard. Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, or sustainable/circular design would be an advantage.
