The College has exceptional teaching, learning and recreational facilities contained within a beautiful campus. This is an exciting time to be joining Sir John Deane's Sixth Form College and the Sir John Brunner Foundation Multi Academy Trust, which collectively educates over 4300 children, and employs over 450 professionals. Each of our academies operates at the heart of their local communities.
Role Responsibilities
As a teacher at our sixth form college, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire academic excellence and independent thinking. You will support students aged 16–19 through their studies, helping them achieve their full potential. Collaboration with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and tailored support is essential. This role also involves contributing to the wider college community through enrichment activities and academic mentoring.
What We Are Looking For
Sir John Deane's seeks to appoint an enthusiastic teacher to contribute to the work of this thriving department. We welcome applications from both early career teachers and teachers with experience. A Level experience is not an essential requirement; we are seeking to appoint an individual with a strong academic background in English who loves to teach and who has a passion for all aspects of the subject. The successful candidate should have the ability to teach across both A Level English Literature and A Level English Language programmes, potentially with an ability to teach A level Media Studies. A full ECT programme is offered at the College in the same way as schools, this means you will be fully qualified to advance your future career.
The Person Appointed Must Be Willing to:
- bring impactful and evidence-informed approaches to their teaching;
- work as a member of a team, sharing ideas and resources;
- develop relationships with students based upon equality, respect, joy and high aspirations.
We are proud that the Sir John Deane’s name has enhanced the career of many colleagues and, together with the professional development we provide, has allowed them to progress into middle and senior management positions. As part of the Sir John Brunner Foundation Multi-Academy Trust, over time, the College will be able to provide professional opportunities in good and outstanding local high schools to help you further develop your career.
