About The Role
Reporting to the HR Manager, the Payroll & HRIS Officer plays a key role in delivering accurate, compliant and efficient payroll, pensions and HR information services across the Foundation. This is a varied role with responsibility for overseeing the outsourced payroll provider, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time for all staff groups, and acting as the main point of contact for payroll and pensions queries.
The post holder will also be responsible for the effective management of the HR Information System (HRIS), ensuring employee records are accurate, secure and maintained to a high standard. You will produce regular and ad‑hoc reports, analyse data to identify trends and risks, and support audits between HR and payroll systems to maintain data integrity.
Working closely with colleagues in HR and Finance, the role requires strong attention to detail, a logical approach, and the ability to interpret legislation, policies and guidance. You will supervise the Payroll & HRIS Assistant, supporting their day‑to‑day work and ongoing development, while ensuring the function remains compliant with legislation and best practice.
Your Responsibilities
- Oversee the outsourced payroll provider and ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time for all staff groups.
- Act as the main point of contact for payroll and pensions queries.
- Manage the HR Information System (HRIS) – keep employee records accurate, secure and maintained to a high standard.
- Produce regular and ad‑hoc reports, analyse data to identify trends and risks.
- Support audits between HR and payroll systems to maintain data integrity.
- Supervise the Payroll & HRIS Assistant, supporting day‑to‑day work and developing the team.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and best practice across payroll, pensions and HRIS functions.
What We Are Looking For

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
