The Luminaire is a luxury travel company that designs unique and enriching experiences for our audience of curious explorers. We are on a mission to make intelligent travel cool and contemporary. We want to explore with curiosity – and we believe that travel is not about where you go, but who you become.
This person will bring experience from a best of breed luxury company, and will have experience in e-commerce. Our AOV is £20-30K, so a successful candidate will have experience operating with products at that price bracket.
Role Overview
We are seeking an innovative and commercially minded Marketing Director to lead the next phase of growth. This role is responsible for driving a consistent flow of high-quality, qualified enquiries into the business while strengthening The Luminaire’s brand, partnerships, and market presence. Strong creative direction and a high taste level are essential for this role, ideally with experience of using design tools such as Adobe InDesign although not essential. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with executional excellence, managing agencies, freelancers and an in-house team, while leading several high-impact, project-based initiatives including a full website refresh and brand review.
Key Responsibilities
- Demand Generation & Performance Marketing
- Own and deliver the marketing strategy to drive qualified leads and enquiries into the business.
- Oversee paid digital activity including paid social and search, working closely with specialist agencies.
- Ensure robust measurement, attribution and optimisation of campaigns to maximise ROI.
- Balance short-term performance activity with long-term brand building.
- Brand, Partnerships & Collaborations
- Develop and execute strategic partnerships with luxury brands, cultural institutions and aligned organisations.
- Identify co-marketing opportunities that drive brand credibility, reach and commercial outcomes.
- Act as a brand guardian, ensuring all output reflects The Luminaire’s positioning, tone and values.
- Press, PR & Thought Leadership
- Lead press and PR strategy, working with agencies and media partners.
- Secure high-quality coverage in relevant luxury, travel, culture and business titles.
- Position The Luminaire and its leadership as thought leaders within luxury travel and experiential sectors.
- Events & Activations
- Conceive, plan and deliver events and activations for clients, partners and press.
- Use events as both a brand-building and lead-generation channel.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners on delivery.
- Team & Agency Management
- Build, manage and inspire a growing marketing team with superlative mentoring and coaching.
- Oversee freelancers, creatives, PR firms, media agencies and other specialist partners.
- Set clear objectives, budgets and timelines, ensuring accountability and high standards.
- Strategic & Project-Based Initiatives
- Lead a refresh of The Luminaire’s brand guidelines, ensuring clarity and consistency across all channels.
- Own the end-to-end review and development of the website, including structure, UX, copy and especially, video-led storytelling.
- Manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects from concept through to delivery.
Skills & Experience
- Senior marketing leadership experience, ideally within luxury, travel, lifestyle or premium consumer brands.
- Proven track record of driving qualified demand through digital channels.
- Strong understanding of paid social, performance marketing and agency management.
- Experience working with press, PR and brand partnerships at a senior level.
- Confident managing budgets, agencies, freelancers and internal teams.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Commercially minded, creative, and detail-oriented.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, etc) and video editing skills preferable.
