As a Product Manager, you will be at the forefront of developing and driving market and customer focused product line strategies to deliver the long-term financial health of the portfolio. You will collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute the European Passenger Car Engine Oils additive product, price, promotion and place strategy for your portfolio.
- Become a subject matter expert in the market segment.
- Liaise with customers and OEMs in collaboration with our account management teams to understand current and future needs, develop partnerships and determine product approaches and strategies.
- Drive business growth through the creation and implementation of insights-based market development and penetration strategies.
- Collaborate with other Product Managers, Strategic Marketing and a wide stakeholder network to develop a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape to guide product development and positioning.
- Liaise with base oil manufacturers to gather insights and determine appropriate future product line coverage.
- Ensure effective marketing communications plans are developed and delivered by the marketing team for your assigned portfolio.
- Pursue product line commercial excellence.
- Actively manage all stages of product lifecycle through introduction, growth, maturity, decline and obsolescence.
- Ensure volume forecasts are consistent with market trends.
- Develop pricing strategies that optimize profitability while remaining competitive in the market.
- Monitor product margins and performance, making data-driven decisions to optimize the customer value proposition to capture market share.
- Provide inputs for the annual profit plan targets setting (volume, revenue, margin) and lead its execution.
- Work closely with technology to commercialise new products and provide ongoing product support.
- Collaborate with Operations, Procurement and Supply Chain to manage asset and operational decisions in support of product lines.
- Collaborate with sales teams to provide training and resources to effectively sell the product line.
- Develop market advocacy strategy, determine key market messages and co-ordinate with other regions as necessary.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong product manager should be a well-rounded individual with a combination of technical, market, and business skills, as well as strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. Candidates with an MBA are desirable.
- A minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a combination of Sales, Marketing, Technology Deployment, or Product Management roles.
- Experience within the specialty chemicals industry or industrial lubricants is considered a plus.
- Business Acumen: Good understanding of the financial aspects of the product line, including pricing, margins, and profitability. Ability to make sound business decisions based on financial analysis.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead, motivate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, sales, and marketing.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, internal teams, and senior leadership.
- Market Understanding: Strong understanding of the relevant markets, including customer needs, competitor analysis, and market trends.
- Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of the technical aspects of the products, including chemical composition, applications, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong organizational skills: ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects. Capable of independent action, takes initiative.
