Research Support Technician focuses on supporting the school's expanding research portfolio and wide array of research laboratories in the school.
What the role involves:
- Support the School’s expanding research portfolio and wide array of research laboratories.
- Ensure that equipment is used safely and efficiently and be responsible for maintaining stocks of chemicals and consumables in laboratories.
- Provide support and expertise to student research projects at all levels including sample collection, preparation, and analysis using a variety of techniques.
Skills and requirements:
- Deliver an excellent learning experience for our students.
- Experience in working in a laboratory environment and the desire to use your skills to support our busy research laboratories and academic staff.
- Be responsible for maintaining equipment, organising servicing as required, carrying out user inductions and training, and supervising where necessary.
- Produce standard operating procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, COSHH forms, and other documentation required by research project aims.
Candidate fit:
- Enthusiastic, well-organised, and versatile, with a strong student service orientation.
- Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
Additional role context:
- Be based on campus 5 days per week.
