Project Manager in Slough

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is seeking to appoint a Project Manager to lead a range of estate development projects across its iconic central London campus portfolio. The LSE Estates Division is responsible for developing and delivering the Estates Strategy in support of the School’s strategic objectives. The Estates Capital Development Team has enjoyed unprecedented success in recent years, delivering a number of acclaimed major projects and receiving multiple ‘Client of the Year’ accolades. Over the past decade, LSE has completed some of the most renowned university buildings in the UK. The Saw Swee Hock Student Centre—LSE’s first new building in over forty years—received a Stirling Prize nomination, while the £145 million Marshall Building opened in 2022 to widespread acclaim.

Looking ahead, LSE has an ambitious capital plan extending to 2030 and beyond. Major projects include the Firoz Lalji Global Hub, a deep retrofit of a 1950s building targeting Passivhaus, BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum standards; the redevelopment of 61 Aldwych into a flagship academic hub and gateway to the campus; and the transformation of Bankside House, LSE’s largest student residence, into a vibrant residential community of nearly 2,000 rooms.

The Project Manager will play a key role in delivering this exciting programme. The role will lead the briefing, design, procurement and delivery of refurbishment, fit‑out and long‑term maintenance projects, typically up to £5 million in value, while supporting senior colleagues on major projects ranging from £20 million to £200 million. The postholder will manage complex programmes across the campus and residential estate, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality, safety and sustainability.

LSE is seeking an individual with a proven track record of planning and delivering projects in the £0.5 million to £5 million range, either in a client‑side role or as a consultant project manager. Experience of delivering refurbishment, reconfiguration and fit‑out projects within a live, multi‑building urban campus environment would be particularly advantageous.
