Global School of Sustainability at LSE – Research Assistant
Salary from £36,513 to £41,565 pa, inclusive with potential to progress to £44,468 pa inclusive of London allowance. This is a Fixed Term appointment for 1 year (with potential to extend for a second year subject to funding).
Overview
The Global School of Sustainability (GSoS) is a major new interdisciplinary centre for sustainability research and impact at LSE. We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant for a one-year period. The project will conduct cutting‑edge research on clean‑tech innovation to inform industrial strategies for sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Play a major role in the planning, design, and implementation of the project.
- Co‑author all outputs, including policy reports and top‑journal publications.
- Assist with data matching, processing, modelling, and analysis.
- Contribute to co‑authored policy reports and publications.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Economics or another quantitative social science discipline, or a quantitative discipline with a primary focus on data analysis for social science questions.
- Master’s degree in Economics or another quantitative social science discipline (desirable). Very good knowledge of economics is required.
- Advanced experience in using Stata for analysing large‑scale micro‑data sets and large‑scale data‑driven projects.
- Experience with data work requiring great accuracy and attention to detail, and ability to identify appropriate economic investigation methods.
- Strong analytical thinking, ability to interpret and analyse patterns or trends in data.
- Demonstrated knowledge and interest in environmental sustainability, economics of innovation, technological change, and industrial/growth policies for sustainable growth.
