The Global School of Sustainability (GSoS) is LSE’s new flagship initiative to advance global efforts to shape a brighter future for all that is sustainable, resilient, hopeful, prosperous and inclusive. It brings together experts from across LSE to deliver interdisciplinary research, transformative teaching, and high-impact engagement.
Responsibilities:- Assist with and develop the work of the Sustainability Regulation Observatory (SRO) and the Sustainability Law and Policy Clinic (SLPC).
- Assist with research and policy analysis in relation to SRO and SLPC projects, including administrative coordination with SLPC external partners and mentoring of students involved in SLPC projects where needed.
- Support policy-oriented analysis and engagement on legal strategies that promote sustainability, including through the development and dissemination of research, the publication of accessible policy briefs, the organisation and moderation of public events, and engagement with policymakers.
- Help maximise the external impact and visibility of the SRO and SLPC.
- Candidates must have a postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in law.
- Demonstrated experience in analysing domestic and international environmental, climate change, human rights, and sustainability laws, including international treaties, domestic legislation, and litigation.
- Ability to mentor students, connecting them with real-world projects that advance environmental and social justice through legal and governance tools, and experience of contributing as a project team member.
- Knowledge relevant to at least one of GSoS’s Theme 3 priority themes, namely: (1) protection of nature and biodiversity; (2) sustainable finance and business; and (3) energy and climate change.
- Proficient IT skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate academic research and complex issues in a concise and compelling manner.
