The Digital Skills Lab provides LSE students with a range of opportunities to develop their digital skills in a practical and engaging way. Working closely with academic departments, LSE Careers and LSE LIFE to provide a holistic service, the Digital Skills Lab’s mission is to create digitally confident social scientists.

The Training Specialist – Academic Partnerships postholder will work as part of a team of trainers, focussing on the design and delivery of effective and engaging technical training that is tailored to use cases in academic disciplines or key industries. The role will require the postholder to:

  • Work with Learning Development Leads on the curation and delivery of effective and engaging training opportunities that support and enhance students’ academic courses and future employment prospects.
  • Work with academic colleagues to identify digital skills learning outcomes that complement academic teaching and enhance students’ ability to meet programme expectations.
  • Establish good working relationships and proactively seek out valuable opportunities to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for the benefit of the LSE community.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of events, from planning through to execution, with support from colleagues as appropriate.

Applicants must have excellent communication and networking skills and extensive experience in designing and delivering digital skills training, ideally within a higher education context. The successful candidate will be proficient in one business analytics tool (Excel or Power BI), preferably one data science tool (Python or R), and have prior experience working with other stakeholders to deliver successful learning outcomes. They should also be confident in using generative AI tools to support the design and delivery of training and have experience embedding effective AI fluency into learning activities. Experience in performance consulting and a professional training or teaching qualification is desirable.
