What you will be doing

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 9 student with ASD throughout the school day.
  • Supporting a non-verbal student using communication tools such as PECS, visual timetables and sensory strategies.
  • Helping the student regulate emotions and feel safe within the school environment.
  • Building a positive, trusting and consistent relationship with the student.
  • Supporting learning activities tailored to the student's individual needs and EHCP targets.
  • Encouraging independence, engagement and social interaction where appropriate.
  • Assisting with transitions between lessons and activities.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider SEND professionals.
  • Monitoring progress, recording observations and contributing to support strategies.
  • Creating a calm and positive learning environment through patience, empathy and structure.
