What you will be doing
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 9 student with ASD throughout the school day.
- Supporting a non-verbal student using communication tools such as PECS, visual timetables and sensory strategies.
- Helping the student regulate emotions and feel safe within the school environment.
- Building a positive, trusting and consistent relationship with the student.
- Supporting learning activities tailored to the student's individual needs and EHCP targets.
- Encouraging independence, engagement and social interaction where appropriate.
- Assisting with transitions between lessons and activities.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider SEND professionals.
- Monitoring progress, recording observations and contributing to support strategies.
- Creating a calm and positive learning environment through patience, empathy and structure.
