We are looking for someone who makes organisations work better once they arrive. We are based in Williamstown, Rhondda Cynon Taff and this is an office-based role. You will need proven management experience. You might come from operations, sales, commercial, customer, delivery, product, marketing or somewhere harder to label. What matters is not the org chart you have sat in, but the problems you have quietly solved.

This role is intentionally broad. Why? Because the best managers rarely fit neatly into pre‐written job descriptions — and we would rather design the role around a strong person than force a strong person into the wrong box.

What you are likely good at:

  • Making messy situations clearer
  • Translating senior leadership intent into action (without endless meetings)
  • Improving outcomes without adding unnecessary process
  • Leading people in a way that makes them better, not busier, building trust capability and momentum
  • Spotting friction and removing it rather than tolerating it

What matters less:

  • Exact industry background
  • Perfectly CV symmetry
  • Whether you have managed this function before

What matters to us:

  • Judgement over jargon
  • Progress over performative busyness
  • Someone who leaves things better than they found them

If you are a manager who suspects your best work is still ahead of you — and would like a role shaped around your strengths rather than your job title — we would like to talk. Apply with a CV, or a short note explaining what kind of problems you are best at fixing.

How to prepare for a job interview at The London Mint Office

Understand the Role's Flexibility

This role is all about shaping it around your strengths, so be ready to discuss how your unique skills can solve problems. Think about specific examples where you've made a messy situation clearer or improved outcomes without adding unnecessary processes.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Skills

Prepare to share stories that highlight your ability to spot friction and remove it. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers, making it easy for the interviewers to see how you’ve tackled challenges in the past.

Emphasise Judgement Over Jargon

The company values practical judgement over industry jargon. Be authentic and straightforward in your responses. Avoid buzzwords and instead focus on how your decisions have led to tangible improvements in your previous roles.

Demonstrate Leadership That Empowers Others

Talk about how you've led teams in a way that builds trust and capability. Share examples of how you've helped others grow and succeed, rather than just focusing on your own achievements. This will resonate well with their emphasis on leaving things better than you found them.
