Looking to develop your theatre career within a specialist Neuro team while gaining experience across a wide range of surgical specialties?

Every successful operation relies on a skilled theatre team working seamlessly behind the scenes. As a Theatre Scrub Practitioner at The London Clinic, you'll primarily support our specialist Neuro team, working alongside expert consultants to deliver complex neurosurgical procedures using advanced surgical technology.

Alongside developing specialist Neuro experience, you'll also have the opportunity to support colleagues across our wider Main Theatre department, giving you exposure to a diverse surgical caseload and helping you build a broad range of scrub skills within one of London's leading private hospitals.

A little about the role

Joining our Neuro Theatre team means becoming part of a highly skilled and supportive department where collaboration, patient safety and clinical excellence are at the heart of everything we do.

Your primary base will be within our specialist Neuro team, supporting a varied caseload of complex neurosurgical procedures alongside experienced neurosurgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary colleagues. You'll develop specialist knowledge while playing a key role in ensuring every procedure runs safely and efficiently.

While Neuro will be your core specialty, you'll also have the opportunity to support colleagues across our wider Main Theatre department when required. This gives you valuable exposure to a broad range of surgical specialties, allowing you to continually develop your skills while remaining part of one collaborative theatre team.

As a Theatre Scrub Practitioner, you'll prepare specialist instrumentation and equipment, anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout each operation, and maintain the highest standards of sterile practice. Every procedure requires precision, focus and excellent teamwork, giving you the opportunity to continually develop your clinical expertise within an environment that actively supports learning and career progression.

What you'll be doing:

  • Prepare surgical instruments, specialist equipment and consumables before procedures.
  • Scrub and assist during a range of neurosurgical procedures while maintaining a safe sterile environment.
  • Support theatre lists across other Main Theatre specialties when required.
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and support the smooth running of theatre lists.
  • Maintain high standards of perioperative care and infection prevention.
  • Complete accurate theatre documentation and patient records.
  • Participate in WHO safety checks and clinical governance activities.
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, recovery practitioners and the wider multidisciplinary team.

What we're looking for?

  • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with valid NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience working in a scrub role within an acute hospital environment.
  • Strong understanding of perioperative care and infection prevention standards.
  • Organised and proactive approach to patient care.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy theatre environment.
  • Interest in ongoing learning and professional development.
