Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant
Salary: Depends on experience
Hours: 37.5 Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent
Job Type: Hybrid (3 days onsite)
We have an exciting opportunity for a part qualified Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance Team at The London Clinic.
This is an assistant level position for someone who already has practical finance experience and is currently working towards a recognised accountancy qualification. You will support the Management Accounting team with reporting, month end processes, budgeting and forecasting while gradually taking greater ownership as your experience grows.
We are committed to supporting your professional development and will provide study support to help you complete your qualification and progress your career in management accounting.
A little about the role
You will work closely with the Management Accounting team, supporting the preparation of management accounts, financial reports, budgets and forecasts.
Your work will help managers understand their financial position and make well informed decisions. You will have regular contact with colleagues across our clinical and corporate services, giving you a good understanding of how different areas of the hospital operate.
Alongside your regular reporting responsibilities, you will have opportunities to investigate financial information, contribute ideas and help improve the way we work.
You will join a team that values accuracy, collaboration and professional development. You will be supported as you build your confidence, broaden your experience and take the next step in your finance career.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Assisting with month end and year end processes, including journal preparation and account reconciliations.
- Analysing financial data to identify trends, variances and opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Supporting budget holders and senior managers by providing accurate financial information and analysis.
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes across the organisation.
- Investigating financial variances and supporting the implementation of corrective actions where required.
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives to enhance financial reporting, controls and efficiency.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, financial regulations and internal policies.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will be part qualified in ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent recognised accountancy qualification and have previous experience working within a finance team. You will have a good understanding of core accounting processes and some practical experience of month end activities, journals, reconciliations or financial reporting.
You will be looking to build on your existing finance experience and move into an Assistant Management Accountant role, where you can develop broader management accounting knowledge and take greater ownership of your work.
You will be organised, accurate and confident working with financial information. You will also be comfortable building relationships across the organisation and explaining financial information clearly to colleagues who may not have a finance background.
What you’ll be part of
You will join a knowledgeable and approachable Finance Team that plays an important role across The London Clinic. The team works closely with clinical and operational colleagues, helping them manage their resources effectively and continue delivering outstanding patient care.
Although this is a finance role, the impact of your work goes much further. The reports you prepare, the questions you ask and the insight you provide will help colleagues make decisions that support our people, our services and our patients.
At The London Clinic, everything starts with our people. Whether you are caring for patients directly or supporting our services behind the scenes, you are part of something bigger and your contribution matters.
As the UK’s largest independent charitable hospital, we care for more than 120,000 patients each year. Any surplus we generate is reinvested into our services, technology and people. This allows us to improve the care we provide while supporting learning, development and career progression across the organisation.
You will be joining more than 1,300 colleagues and working alongside specialist teams and over 700 consultant surgeons and physicians, all united by a shared commitment to high quality, compassionate care.
