We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Educator to join our Learning and Development Team who sit within the People directorate here at The London Clinic. This role is based at our head office in London (NW1 4LJ) on a hybrid working model, and we are offering a competitive inclusive salary on a 12-month FTC.
Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK\’s largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities, and circa 1350 employees where we are dedicated to providing our patients with expert, individualised treatment and care. Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 150+ patient beds and 10 operating theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive/day surgery theatres. Speciality areas include, General surgery; ENT; Gynaecology; Hepatobiliary; Neuro-spinal; Ophthalmic; Orthopaedic; Plastic and reconstructive; Robotic; Urology; Vascular & Weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery).
Job Description
In this role you will be the clinical educator for nursing, AHP\’s and other clinical services at The London Clinic, and will contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care via learning & development, acting as a positive role model across the organisation. Working with, and accountable to the Head of People Development and the Interim Lead Clinical Educator. You will provide professional leadership for the continued development of nurses, allied health professionals, students, support workers and the wider clinical workforce.

- Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Mon – Fri within the core hours of 9am – 5.30pm.
- Contract: 12-month FTC
- Location: The London Clinic Head Office – NW1 4LJ – Hybrid working

Duties & Responsibilities
- To be responsible for supporting professional development, education, practice learning and competence among clinical staff throughout the organisation
- Maintain a contemporary working knowledge of the clinical education landscape
- Collaborate with clinical managers to identify staff development needs; then design, deliver, identify and organise relevant learning interventions that align with the clinical education strategy and service priorities to enhance patient care, service delivery and employee performance
- Role model the highest professional standards in patient care
- Provide visible, competent and inspirational leadership in clinical education across the organisation, and, in conjunction with the Head of People Development work to enhance professional development, employee performance, service delivery and job satisfaction
- Build and sustain effective relationships with local clinical educators and subject matter experts to ensure a consistently high standard of delivery of education and learning across the organisation
- Create and adapt a curriculum for a variety of audiences and learning delivery methods across the organisation, delivered in a range of settings including classroom, skills lab, clinical areas
- Follow quality standards to appraise and ensure all learning material delivered within the clinical education portfolio is evidence-based, up-to-date and reflects best practice and professional standards.
- Ensure compliance in the latest requirements and guidelines of best practice of clinical SMT
Skills & Experience
- Current registration with the NMC or HCPC on the appropriate part of the register
- Relevant first degree and (desirable) post-graduate education
- Previous post registration experience which must be relevant and recent
- Knowledge and understanding of post-registration training and clinical education
- Evidence of on-going personal professional and academic development
- Ideally, relevant teaching/training qualification
- Previous experience in a clinical educational role
- Experience in teaching and effectively facilitating learning in formal, informal and skills-based settings
- Knowledge of and experience in writing action plans for staff who are requiring additional support or who have been identified as needing to improve their practice
- Understand the needs of newly qualified nurses; contribute to the Preceptorship programme
- Previous experience of supporting learners in practice and knowledge of current undergraduate nursing curriculum
