We have an exciting opportunity for a Non-Resident General Clinical Fellow to join our Medical team at The London Clinic in Central London. The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest private hospitals, providing highly complex procedures alongside routine surgery and medicine across eight state-of-the-art facilities in the heart of London's medical community. You will primarily work across our two main buildings, which are connected via an underground corridor. Our consultants are leaders in their fields, many of whom are also affiliated with leading university hospitals in London. As a Non-Resident General Clinical Fellow, you will provide high-quality clinical care to patients across allocated surgical and medical wards within The London Clinic. You will be responsible for daily ward reviews (alongside the nurse in charge, pharmacy and AHP teams), ensuring safe and effective patient care and timely escalation when required.

Contract and working pattern:

  • Full-time, 1-2-year fixed-term contract
  • 44 hours per week (including 4 hours protected CPD time)
  • Working hours: 08:00-17:00, Monday to Friday
  • Up to 1 in 4 Saturday morning sessions (09:00-13:00) if required
  • Attendance at daily safety huddles (08:00 and 10:30) and evening handover (17:00)
  • CPD support available for approved external meetings (subject to Medical Director approval)
  • Opportunities to participate in audit, Quality Improvement, and research activities
  • Monthly in-house CPD and M&M meetings

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Clinical Site Teams, Modern Matrons, AHPs, Nursing teams, ITU Fellows, Oncology Fellows and other Specialty Clinical Fellows
  • Provide daily clinical reviews of all inpatients on allocated wards
  • Ensure timely documentation, escalation, prescribing, and discharge planning
  • Complete TTOs and support safe and efficient patient discharge processes
  • Maintain high-quality communication with consultants and multidisciplinary teams
  • Attend safety huddles and ensure robust handover of care at the end of each shift
  • Ensure all patients under your care are safely reviewed before leaving duty
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records (manual and electronic)
  • Contribute to audits, Quality Improvement projects, M&M meetings, risk and governance processes
  • Support investigations into incidents, complaints, and clinical quality reviews

Skills and experience:

  • Essential: Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • ALS or ILS certification
  • Experience as a core trainee or registrar within the NHS (medical or surgical specialties)
  • Strong clinical judgement and ability to recognise the deteriorating patient
  • Understanding of NEWS and escalation pathways
  • Competence in interpreting routine investigations (bloods, ECG, ABGs, imaging)
  • Experience managing acute medical conditions (e.g. sepsis, AKI, bleeding, diabetes, neurological deterioration)
  • Knowledge of safe prescribing and medicines management
  • Strong communication skills, including use of SBAR
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance, Duty of Candour and GMC Good Medical Practice
  • Effective time management and decision-making skills
