We have an exciting opportunity for a Sister/Charge Nurse (Band 6) to join our Digestive Diseases Unit here at The London Clinic. We are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of £44,639 to £46,201 per annum. Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities located in the heart of London’s medical community around Harley Street. We provide medical and mainly surgical care to patients across a range of digestive health conditions. This includes everything from Irritable Bowel Disease and Colorectal cancer, haemorrhoidectomies and minor colorectal surgeries to AP resections and Total Pelvic Exenterations. Our Consultants are leading the way in developing ground-breaking treatments, and we are the first private hospital in the UK to offer patients SpyGlass cholangioscopy, which helps diagnose and treat conditions including: Bile duct stones, Pancreatic duct stones, Benign tumours, Malignant tumours.

As a Sister/Charge Nurse, you will assist the Ward Manager in ensuring the department is efficiently and effectively managed at all times, and be responsible for the delivery of the highest standards of care and services.

Job Location: This role is located at The London Clinic’s main hospital site in London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).

Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Sunday. Shifts include; rotational Long Days, Nights & Weekends.

Salary: We are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of ÂŁ44,639 to ÂŁ46,201 per annum.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee, advise and delivery of individualised patient care of the highest standard, ensuring the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation is in-line with evidence base practices, as well as the Clinic’s policies, protocols, philosophies, and NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Providing leadership and assisting the Ward Manager in line-managing a team of Staff Nurses and HCAs, being responsible for approving annual leave, managing sickness and approving/managing training whilst ensuring that performance reviews are carried out.
  • Plan staff duty rotas to ensure economical, effective staff patient allocation whilst including internal rotation.
  • Act as an Intravenous Assessor, and deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of the department budget and business plan, as well as team goals and audit.
  • Identify, develop and support staff training needs within the department, as well as participate in staff recruitment and induction.

Skills & Experience

  • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration.
  • Post registration experience in a Gastrointestinal environment with experience in acute nursing.
  • Experience in supervision of trained Nurses with evidence of motivation, commitment to teaching and the ability to manage change.
  • Clinical skills in acute practice and Epidural assessed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and articulate, enthusiastic and flexible in approach.
  • Able to demonstrate high standards of clinical practice with the ability to prioritise own workload effectively and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
