The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Intensive Care Fellow to join our dedicated ICU team. This role offers exposure to a broad range of high-acuity cases and the opportunity to work closely with consultant intensivists and anaesthetists in a supportive and learning-focused environment.

You will be responsible for providing day-to-day medical care for critically ill patients, leading emergency responses for deteriorating patients across the hospital, supporting the Outreach team, and ensuring the safe transfer and continuity of care in collaboration with senior medical and nursing colleagues.

This post provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen advanced airway and procedural skills, gain experience in private sector critical care, and contribute to a team that values professionalism, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

Key Duties

  • Review ICU patients daily and attend consultant-led ward rounds
  • Lead the emergency medical response for deteriorating patients across the hospital
  • Act as second responder to cardiac arrest calls
  • Support the Outreach team and facilitate safe patient transfers
  • Provide medical input to wards, theatres and anaesthetic emergencies (where relevant to skillset)
  • Contribute to documentation, clinical audits, governance and teaching

Skills and Experience:

Please note that only applicants meeting the following criteria will be considered:

  • Full GMC registration and licence to practise in the UK
  • A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience
  • At least 12 months recent experience working in an Intensive Care Unit within the UK
  • At least 6 months\’ experience in anaesthetics or proven advanced airway management skills
  • ALS certification (PILS/APLS desirable)
  • Strong competencies in intubation, line insertion, airway management, and mechanical ventilation
  • Excellent communication, decision-making and organisational skills
