Our specialist 18 bed Orthopaedic & Spinal Ward cares for patients undergoing a wide range of planned and complex surgery. From admission and preparation for surgery through to recovery, rehabilitation and discharge, our nurses play a key role in helping patients regain their mobility, confidence and independence., Deliver high quality, evidence based nursing care to orthopaedic and spinal patients. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care. Monitor patients throughout their recovery and respond appropriately to changes in their condition. Recognise and respond effectively to deteriorating patients and clinical emergencies. Work collaboratively with consultants and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate holistic patient care. Administer medications safely in accordance with NMC guidelines. Support patients and families throughout their inpatient journey Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation. Supervise and support Healthcare Assistants, student nurses and junior colleagues. Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
