Headline
Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where precision really matters?
Behind every diagnostic image, theatre procedure, and patient pathway, there's a team ensuring that exceptional care is delivered safely, efficiently, and with clinical excellence.
And that's where you come in.
We're looking for an experienced radiography leader to join our Imaging department as a Generals Clinical Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop General X-Ray, Ultrasound and Theatre Imaging services across one of the UK's leading independent healthcare organisations. Balancing hands-on clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, you'll play a key role in driving service improvements, developing colleagues, enhancing patient experiences, and supporting the continued growth of our imaging services. This role offers the opportunity to influence clinical practice, champion innovation, and lead a team committed to delivering outstanding care every day.

You'll work closely with radiographers, radiologists, consultants, healthcare support workers, educators, and operational teams, building strong relationships that support excellent patient outcomes. No two days are the same. One day you may be supporting a complex theatre procedure, the next leading service improvement initiatives, managing capacity and demand, mentoring team members, or helping shape future developments within the department.
This is a role for someone who enjoys making a visible impact, whether that's supporting colleagues to achieve their potential, improving patient pathways, implementing new ways of working, or ensuring our services continue to deliver the highest standards of care across multiple sites.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the day-to-day operational management of General X-Ray, Ultrasound and Theatre Imaging services.
- Delivering high-quality diagnostic radiography examinations across a variety of clinical specialties.
- Acting as a senior clinical practitioner and expert resource within General Imaging.
- Managing and developing Band 5 and Band 6 Radiographers through coaching, mentoring, appraisals and performance management.
- Driving service improvement initiatives, audits and clinical practice development projects.
- Monitoring service activity, capacity and demand to maximise efficiency and patient experience.
- Working collaboratively with consultant radiologists, theatre teams, bookings teams and multidisciplinary colleagues.
What we're looking for
- BSc in Radiography (or equivalent) and HCPC registration.
- Extensive post-qualification radiography experience with significant leadership responsibilities.
- Previous experience operating at Band 7 level or equivalent senior radiographer position.
- Strong experience within General Imaging, including Plain Film, Theatre Imaging and Ultrasound services.
- Demonstrable people management experience, including appraisals, development reviews and performance management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, motivate and influence teams.
- Strong understanding of IR(ME)R, radiation protection, infection prevention and health and safety requirements.
- Experience managing workflow, service delivery and operational performance.
- Knowledge of RIS and PACS systems.
- A proactive approach to service improvement, quality assurance and clinical governance.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and developing others.Generals Clinical Lead JD
