Hours: 37.5 Monday to Sunday - on rotation to cover days, nights and weekend

Join our Oncology Inpatients team at The London Clinic and help care for patients with cancer. You will support patients during treatment and recovery, helping them feel comfortable, safe and cared for. You must have experience working as a Healthcare Assistant on an acute hospital ward, including caring for surgical patients. This is a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant position.
A little about the role
You will work in our dedicated cancer centre, caring for patients who need to stay in hospital during cancer treatment. Some patients may feel tired, unwell or worried. Others may need help with everyday tasks while they recover. Working under the supervision of registered nurses, you will help patients with their daily care. You will listen to their needs, respect their privacy and help them stay as independent as possible. You will also receive training to keep your skills up to date and develop your experience in cancer care.

What you'll be doing

  • Helping patients with personal care, meals, hydration and safe movement.
  • Taking and recording observations, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure and oxygen levels.
  • Recording fluid balance and reporting any concerns to the registered nurse.
  • Listening to patients and responding sensitively to their needs.
  • Working closely with nurses and other colleagues to deliver agreed care.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised ward and following infection prevention procedures

What we are looking for:

  • Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant on an acute hospital ward
  • An NVQ Level 2 in Care or equivalent.
  • Confidence in supporting patients with personal care and taking clinical observations within your training and competence.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to recognise when to seek support or report a concern.
  • A compassionate approach and a commitment to protecting patients' dignity.
  • The ability to organise your workload and work effectively as part of a team.
