As a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering safe, effective, and high-quality nursing care. You will work closely with the wider clinical team to ensure patients receive the best possible experience throughout their stay.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality, evidence-based nursing care in line with hospital policies and best practice.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients undergoing gynaecological and general surgical procedures.
  • Support patients pre-operatively and post-operatively, including monitoring recovery and managing complications.
  • Administer medications safely in line with Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate, clear, and timely clinical documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants, medical teams, and allied health professionals.
  • Provide clear communication and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Contribute to effective discharge planning to ensure safe transitions of care.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised clinical environment.
  • Support Healthcare Assistants and junior staff, contributing to a positive team culture.
  • Participate in audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council registration.
  • Previous experience within an acute hospital setting.
  • Experience or exposure to surgical nursing is desirable.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
