This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced and motivated Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist to play a pivotal role within our established breast cancer service. We are seeking a nurse with a solid foundation in breast cancer care, ideally with around 2 years relevant specialist experience, who is confident supporting patients across the full pathway from diagnosis through treatment and follow up.
You will be a consistent and trusted presence for patients and their families, providing expert clinical guidance, education, and compassionate support at what is often a highly challenging time. Working closely with leading consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will act as a central point of contact, helping to coordinate care and ensure a seamless patient experience.
The role offers a high level of autonomy, including the delivery of nurse led clinics and follow up services, alongside active involvement in service development, audit, and quality improvement. This post is well suited to a clinician who values continuity of care, clinical credibility, and long-term professional development within a respected cancer service.
Our Breast Services sit within The London Clinic's renowned Cancer Services department, providing specialist care across surgical and non-surgical oncology pathways. The breast team works closely with our multi-disciplinary colleagues to deliver holistic, evidence-based care that meets the highest national and international standards.
Key Duties:
- Act as the primary specialist nurse for patients diagnosed with breast cancer, providing expert clinical care, education, and ongoing support.
- Deliver nurse led clinics including follow up, survivorship, and rapid access services.
- Undertake specialist assessments and develop individualised care plans.
- Provide pre and post-operative counselling, including prosthesis fitting and body image support.
- Attend and actively contribute to MDT meetings to ensure coordinated care.
- Support service development through audit, research, and quality improvement activity.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and support to junior staff, students, and new CNS colleagues.
Skills and Experience:
- NMC Registered Nurse (Adult).
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in breast cancer or oncology nursing.
- First-level specialist breast care qualification.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in oncology or breast care nursing.
- Advanced communication skills, with the ability to provide sensitive and complex information to patients and families.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and managing complex patient cases.
- Desirable: Independent/Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
- MSc or working towards in a relevant field.
- Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
