Overview
The post holder will provide clinical and medical support to patients on the Oncology ward, Outpatient Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy Units, through general patient care and medical procedures.
Out of hours, the day case chemotherapy unit is closed.
The post holder will cover the haematology ward at night and at weekends.
The role works closely with Consultants and nursing staff to support patient treatments and symptom management, and to act in accordance with GMC standards.
In addition, the post holder should demonstrate the core values and code of conduct of the clinic, adhere to London Clinic policies and guidelines for professional practice and general issues, and ensure mandatory training is completed and maintained.
The role requires compliance with appropriate regulatory and best practice frameworks and ongoing personal professional development to meet GMC revalidation requirements.
Daily documentation in patient notes and maintenance of essential records are required, along with liaison with Consultants and their secretaries as necessary.
The post holder should ensure discharge summaries are completed for all in-patients and provided to the patient, maintain a high standard of work, and uphold the professional image of The London Clinic.
With regard to safety, the post holder must work in a safe environment in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, and respect patient, family, staff and colleague confidentiality as per professional standards and guidance.
To undertake other tasks appropriate to grade and capabilities as required by the clinical line manager or Medical Director.
