We are looking for an experienced surgical nurse to join our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit as a Sister / Charge Nurse. This is a senior clinical role where you will provide leadership on shift, regularly acting as Nurse in Charge and supporting the safe and effective delivery of patient care.

Main duties of the job

  • Coordinate the clinical shift, acting as Nurse in Charge when required, supporting safe patient flow, clinical decision making, and effective team working.
  • Supervise and support junior nurses and healthcare assistants, ensuring high standards of care, professional practice, and patient safety.
  • Work closely with the Unit Manager and multidisciplinary team to contribute to service development, quality improvement and the delivery of safe and effective surgical inpatient care.
  • Primarily based within the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit; however, may be required to support other surgical inpatient areas depending on service needs.

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
  • Experience working in an acute surgical ward setting.
  • Confidence in coordinating a clinical shift and supporting junior staff.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a busy clinical environment.
  • Commitment to delivering safe, compassionate patient care.
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.
