We are looking for a Band 5 Staff Nurse with oncology or haematology experience to join our Stem Cell Transplant Unit at The London Clinic. If you enjoy building relationships with patients and want to develop your specialist nursing skills, we would love to hear from you.

A little about the role

In our Stem Cell Transplant Unit, we care for patients with complex haematological conditions, supporting them through treatment and recovery. We work closely with our consultants and wider multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated care that considers each person's physical, psychological and social needs.

You will take responsibility for your patients' care, administer chemotherapy within your competencies and monitor their response to treatment. Alongside the clinical aspects of your role, you will provide reassurance, explain what is happening and help patients and families feel involved in their care.

We will support you to complete our oncology and haematology training pathway, develop your specialist knowledge and maintain the competencies needed for your role.

What you'll be doing

  • Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating individualised nursing care.
  • Caring for patients with oncology and haematology needs, including those undergoing stem cell transplantation.
  • Administering chemotherapy and other prescribed treatments safely within your assessed competencies.
  • Monitoring patients closely, recognising changes in their condition and escalating concerns promptly.
  • Providing central venous access device care and undertaking phlebotomy.
  • Supporting patients and families with clear information, practical guidance and compassionate care.
  • Working with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate treatment and ongoing care.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to clinical audits, research activity and the review of standard operating procedures.
  • Supporting new colleagues and participating in team learning and service improvements.

What we are looking for:

  • A Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • At least one year of post registration experience in an acute setting, including some oncology or haematology experience.
  • A recognised chemotherapy administration qualification, such as UKONS SACT or equivalent, and chemotherapy competence.
  • Cancer foundation and haematology qualifications, or equivalent relevant training or experience.
  • Familiarity with central venous access devices and phlebotomy skills.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise your workload, make sound clinical decisions and recognise when to seek support.
  • Clear communication skills and a compassionate approach to patients, families and colleagues
  • Experience in malignant haematology or stem cell transplantation would be an advantage, alongside familiarity with transplant processes, JACIE and FACT guidance, or clinical audit.

What you'll be part of

Our Stem Cell Transplant Unit is based within the Duchess of Devonshire Wing, our dedicated cancer centre at The London Clinic. You will work alongside nursing colleagues, consultant haematologists and the wider multidisciplinary team, caring for patients with complex blood disorders and supporting them through transplantation and recovery.

You will be part of a specialist team where sharing knowledge and supporting one another are central to how we work. With guidance from your Ward Manager, support from colleagues and our oncology and haematology training pathway, you will have opportunities to strengthen your clinical skills, build your confidence and contribute to the care we provide.
